Workplace Training Programme
This is a Government-funded programme providing FREE workplace training. It is designed to develop employee confidence and competence with all aspects of language, literacy, numeracy and learning.
The course is structured so that training:
- is customised to each workplace
- training takes place on site
- hours are flexible (for example, could be half an hour of work time, half an hour employee time)
- will be a blend of tutor-led sessions, group work, one-on-one, self-paced learning, online internet-based learning modules (for example, reading, numeracy, IT), self-paced workbooks and contextualised resources
Additional information:
- there is a requirement for an average of one to four hours training per learner per week over 10-40 weeks (total: 40 hours)
- home-based study (as part of an individual's learning) is encouraged
- each learner will have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), into which will be built a work relevance check to ensure current (and future) job prospects are enhanced by the skills attained
- blended learning allows for the development of a wide range of skills and embedded competencies which may be a secondary outcome to an initial objective of, for example, gaining competency in numeracy, customer service skills, or health and safety
- this training will also develop critical thinking and problem solving skills
- individual NZQA unit standards - all contributing to NZQA certificates (NCEA 1 and NCEA 2, and NCC2) - are available on an optional basis
